After a grueling public process, Leavitt was appointed to a vacant seat on the Vancouver City Council in 2003. He was elected to a full four-year term in 2004, and won again in 2007. As a councilmember, he has served as a C-TRAN Board Member, including Chair of the Board 2006-08. Leavitt also has served on numerous boards, commissions and panels relating to transportation (Regional Transportation Council subcommittees), neighborhood revitalization (Fourth Plain Corridor), natural resource preservation (Lower Columbia Fish Recovery Board), community building (Safe Community Coalition and Fourth Plain Corridor Task Force) and education (Clark College Alumni Association).

The Vancouver City Council is considered a ‘part-time’ responsibility. Leavitt’s professional duties are as the Director of Engineering Services for PBS Engineering + Environmental. The Vancouver Office of PBS was opened by Leavitt and a PBS Owner in 2000 and has flourished. Now with nearly 50 employees, the company is the leading local engineering and environmental firm, providing a broad range of expert consulting services for building and property owners, institutional clientele (schools, ports, municipalities) and manufacturing/industrial.

In his available free time, Tim enjoys skiing, golfing, traveling, reading and staying fit with regular visits to the gym. Some favorite travel destinations include Spain, Costa Rica and Hawaii. Most of his free time is dedicated to volunteering in our community.

“Vancouver is a wonderful home. Since moving here in 1980, I’ve witnessed much change, growth and evolution. I am convinced that the best days of our community are ahead of us, and am committed to ensuring our future is prosperous and living here is enjoyable.”
